Each year FAzA offers two stipends of up to $250 each to pay for travel costs incurred while doing research for National History Day projects. Applications are to be submitted by the teachers overseeing the research projects or, for home-schooled students, by their parents.
The applications must be for projects that will be entered in the upcoming National History Day competition for Arizona, which begins in the late winter with regional contests at locations around Arizona and concludes in the spring with the state contest. Each year's competition has a theme, which for 2009 was "The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies."
To apply for FAzA's History Day stipends, download the application (in Microsoft Word format), complete it, and mail it to NHD Research Stipend; Friends of Arizona Archives; P. O. Box 64532; Phoenix, Arizona 85052-4532. A separate application must be submitted for each student project.
Applications must be postmarked no later than November 1. Stipend winners are announced by the end of the year.
